I’ve been told, “Becky, you have a LOT on your plate.”
They don’t mean I’m a pig, they mean I am a “Serial Project Girl”. I have waaayyy too much going on all.the.time.
Hubs told me “honey, if you were a stove, all four of your burners would be going at the same time….”
Yeah, that about sums it up.
My main passion is my blogging. I love my blog(s) and I really would love to take it/them to the next level. Which I might add, is a seemingly overwhelming task. For those who don’t know, I have approx. ONE HOUR a day to write, blog, create, and work on my home biz.
I will quote my BFF when I say “it’s very hard to be fabulous on one hour a day.”
In fact, as I type this I am racing the clock. As it ticks past my “time to go get ready for work” mark, out the window goes some details of what I plan to wear to work today, and any thoughts of a leisurely breakfast over a cup of coffee.
Looks like a “hoodie and yoga pants day” again. And YES, I can drink straight from a milk carton and curl my hair at the same time. Cuz I am cool like that.
Then there’s my dreams and goal for 2011.
One of the 4 main things on my New Year’s Resolution “To-Do” list is…grow my blog.
Then I look at aboveraforementioned “To Do” list (which includes weight loss, getting organized, and working on public speaking) and I get..MUDDLED. In fact, I would rather crawl back in bed with a foot long sub, a diet Coke, in my messy house, and read a trashy novel. But I can’t. I need to move forward to reach my dreams. Even if it’s millimeters, I need to move forward.
SO, I am going to take the advice of one of my all-time-favorite motivational speakers Rita Davenport, and Eat An Elephant.
NO, not really. What she means is to take a HUGE, daunting task, and break it down into manageable chunks.
So, here’s my first bite chunk ellie-lump step project…. HOW TO PROMOTE MY BLOG, You know, that pesky little detail of Readership.
Currently, this is what I’ve been tapping into:
* Communities like Blog Frog, SITS, Cafe Mom
*Twitter and Facebook
*Guest Blogging (need to do this more.Anyone need a guest blogger?)
* Closer to home, there’s some local opportunities like forums and local magazines that I’ve been able to add my links to. I am getting more and more traffic from these little “homegrown” sites too.
SO..now…I need your help. What am I missing? What sites, places, or techniques have worked for you on getting new traffic to your blog? I want to boost readership without falsely inflating numbers with Give-aways, etc. Please don’t hate me for saying that. Give-aways are Just.Not.My.Style.
Thoughts?? Any help would be appreciated.

Giveaways are over rated.
I think it helps to be a bit of a tart when it comes to comments. Lots of comments on lots of blog is a great way to get people to your site.

I think you’re doing the right stuff, just do as much of it as you can. It’s hard with limited time!
You are welcome to guest post on my blog, I need to get into doing more of that myself.

Hello my dear! How have you been? Blog looks fantastic. I do agree, most of us all have too much on our plates….maybe we should all go on strike!
