I adore books and as the Project Manager for Multicultural Children’s Book Day I get so see, hold and read some pretty amazing works.
Not too long ago, I received a surprise package in the mail. The envelope was marked from Mighty Media Press in Minneapolis, Mn! YES! As a Minnesotan, I love, love love seeing publishers/books/authors in my own home state. The books that Marketing Director, Sammy Bosch, sent were delightful, but one in particular caught my eye along with my curious nine-year old (the same girl who loves to raid mom’s office to see “what cool books you got this week”).
Monster Needs Your Vote is a hardcover children’s book with vibrant illustrations from Wendy Grieb. Right inside the front cover I got a giggle and an “ahhh.” The giggle was from author Paul Czajak’s recounting of how he got an “F” with the words “get a tutor” on his college writing paper. Proof that even when people say you can’t, you CAN!
Paul now resides in New Jersey with his wife and his own “little monsters” and is the proud author of the adorable Monster & Me Series.
The “ahhhh” moment came when I saw the message on the next page, ” To all the Librarians in the World. Your passion keeps our books alive!’
So.TRUE.
Monster Needs Your Vote is a great book about teaching kids to take a stand and fight for what they believe in.
When Monster learns he is too young to vote, he runs for president instead! Through trial and error, he rallies his community together to save his local library from closing. This picture book features people of all ethnicities and religions coming together in the name of education, democracy and reading-a trifecta of awesome!
