April is a month full of meaningful and fun observances and traditions. To name a few, the month of April notes Earth Day and National Poetry Month. Imagine my delight in discovering a brand new book that creates love, beauty, and lessons for both!
Bless The Earth: A Collection of Poetry for Children to Celebrate and Care for Our World by Nancy Tupper Ling and June Cotner is a gorgeous children’s book that introduces a collection of poems and prayers. This book of anthologies was created with the hope that kids everywhere will develop a new appreciation for our natural world on a spiritual level. This beautiful book is 91 pages of pure happiness!
Bless The Earth shows readers the miracle of our planet Earth through vivid imagery and creative poetry. Perfect for ages 3-8, Bless the Earth knits together our common humanity that will help us understand the importance of respecting all living things (including people!) on the planet.
Bless the Earth, our faithful friend,
her mountain range and river bend,
her forest green and canopy,
the hidden world of bended trees.
When I asked what inspired this dynamic duo to create this book, June had this to say:
“I started working on BLESS THE EARTH ten years ago. I had several anthologies published at that point, including two children’s books. When I received submissions for my adult book EARTH BLESSINGS, I realized that some of the submissions would work in a delightful and meaningful way for a children’s book that connects nature and the environment with spirituality. Nancy loved this project and joined me five years ago as co-author.”
Though I could go on for days on how wonderful this book is, I asked Nancy and June to pick ONE THING they would like readers to take away with them after reading Bless the Earth.
“Through poems and prayers, we hope BLESS THE EARTH will increase a child’s appreciation of the world and will feel motivated to help take care of our precious planet.”
Copies of Bless The Earth are available on Amazon or at your local bookstore.
