I don’t know about you, but in 2024, I was a frequent rider on the Struggle Bus. I’m not complaining; that’s just the way life is sometimes.
As rough of a year as it was, I never lost hope that better days were coming, and the tears I cried in 2024 were watering the seeds of progress in the New Year.
So here I am again, walking upright and ready to take on the world. because that is what the women in my family do—we don’t give up, and we figure things out.
With that in Mind, Here are 6 Power Activities for Entrepreneurs for 2025
Visit a networking group: Yes, I know that sounds scary, but I spent many years going to networking groups in my area, and they are always a good source of contacts and referrals. You never know what opportunities exist until you step out and ask for them. Not only does visiting these groups give you visibility as a freelancer, having to say to people, “I am a freelance_________. I offer___ and___ for business professionals just like you is a great way to fine-tune your elevator pitch and get past the fear of talking about your biz.
Make 20 new connections on LinkedIn: Does that sound like a lot? It isn’t, and it acts the same way as face-to-face networking. You can also take this one step further. Reach out to 10-20 existing contacts in your LinkedIn database and reconnect by alerting them to a new service you have or the fact you have hours available for the coming New Year.
Make a Plan Stan: Starting 2025 without any plan is like international travel with no map! If you haven’t done so, take the time to sit down and allow yourself the headspace to form some goals. Just because it’s not the “new year” anymore doesn’t mean you have to let the goal-setting slide. This is also the time to recap the previous year by listing what worked for your business and what didn’t.
Give New Social Media Platforms a Try: If you have been rebelling about dipping your toe into the TikTok or Instagram waters, it’s time to put your Big Girl Panties and jump in! Social media is not the cure-all-to-end-all, but it is a fantastic way to get your name out there and be seen.
Walk Your Talk 365 Days a Year: Just because the New Year’s hype is over doesn’t mean you can ease up on the hypothetical gas pedal. Resolutions oftentimes don’t work, but decisions do! Pick one thing a day, one act of progress towards your goals, and Do It.
Need Some Help with Goal-Setting? Try the S.M.A.R.T recipe:
Specific: Be very detailed and clear about your goal. “I want to write for magazines” is too vague. Try “I want to write for monthly, Regional Parenting magazines like________and great cover stories and main features.” Or change, “I want to go viral on Tiktock,” My long-term goal is to create a viral audience for my _______(insert product, service, passion, mission).
Measurable: There always needs to be a way to measure a goal. Don’t be afraid to put pen to paper and outline the timeline to achieve this goal, but also remember to allow time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it may take a few months for your goal to percolate and evolve.
Aligned: The goal aligns with your values, life purpose, and vision. Why is this goal important to you? How will you feel when you achieve this goal?
Reachable: Your Master Plan of action for 2025 needs to be challenging enough to keep you from getting bored but achievable enough to prevent you from throwing in the towel. Be real about what you want to accomplish this year. Pursue what moves you forward to a better place, but keep your mental, physical, and spiritual limits in mind.
Time frame: It must have an end date to be accomplished, not open-ended.
