Dear 2017,

I know this is a little late…but I have to tell you that I an over you.

Yes, I am sorry to say that it’s over between us.

Now don’t get me wrong, we had some good times. There were fun trips, meaningful relationships, great meals, a boatload of giggles, business successes and personal victories.

Remember that cool thing you did with the moon and sun in August? That was amazing. Let’s do it again in…say, six years or so? #eclipse.

And remember the time Lady Gaga Spider-Man’d down from the ceiling in a shiny bodysuit and knee-high boots after singing “God Bless America” at the Super Bowl? Yes, that was about as memorable as it gets.

There were also some sketchy times though too in the year Two-Thousand-and-Seventeen. Like hair-pulling-teeth-gnashing-I-think-I-am-losing-my-marbles times. Not to name names, but when discussing politics and the state of our government, I truly wish sarcasm would allow me to burn calories.

If that was true, I’d weight -.08 pounds.

Luckily, the icky times were few and far between and we don’t need to dwell on those.

I think it’s safe to say there was far more good than bad in the past 365.

But here’s the rub; we need to part ways. I’d like to say “it’s not you, it’s me” but it’s little of both. I think we’ve outgrown each other and you, my Dear 2017, have overstayed your welcome.

No hard feelings. It’s just time for us to both move on. I need something more current, relevant and modern. A brand new year that reflects that new me that evolved on 12/31/17.

Thanks for the memories. I hope this 2018 thing lives up to the hype and swagger.

Only time will tell. But it looks like we are off to a decent start.
