Some people want to be astronauts, and some people want to raise alpacas.
Some people want to sail the seven seas, while others just want to find the most secluded pond in their hometown and do a little crappie fishing.
Some people want to be self-employed, while others dream of working for a Fortune 500 company. Some of us (:: raises hand::) would prefer to win the lottery and spend the rest of our days being a philanthropist.
But I will bet those same people are afraid to speak those dreams out loud if asked at a social gathering.
My 58th birthday is coming up soon, and over my 5+ decades on this planet, I have pursued many of my dreams. Some successfully and some not so much. But that’s totally okay. I have zero regrets, and I’m not done dreaming yet!
Some dreams I’ve had were fleeting and it was best that I didn’t pursue them. Does the world really need custom pot-bellied pig houses called Pig Palaces? I think not. (True story)
But other dreams have rattled around in my brain for decades, and I’m unwilling to let them go. I often tell myself, “When my life calms down, I really want to _____.”
P.S. Life never calms down. Especially if you have kids. So I have decided that, for my 58th b-day, I will take one action towards the dreams that have been pestering me for so long.
One minute, one breath, one step towards continuing my life’s path of being corny, adventurous (as long as it’s before 9:00 p.m.) and curious.
Usually, around the tenth month of the year, I spend a day or two doing my business planning and picking my Word of The Year. This year, I will zero in on one dream and work it like a project.
What dreams have been pestering you lately?
