If it seems like I’ve been pondering about 2024, I have.
I think I am more determined, focused, and stronger than ever, and I’m not at all sad that I’ve left the “hustle and grind” lifestyle in my rearview mirror.
I’ve worked on figuring out my Five Dream Discovering Questions and Defining My Success. I’m poised and ready for the awesomeness of the New Year.
Here is My Epic To-Do List for 2024.
New Experiences: I yearn for new experiences and new adventures. Too much has held me back for too long. Something is stirring inside of me that feels a strong need to explore, travel, and expand my horizons. I will try very, very hard to start saying “yes” when these opportunities arise.
Take Chances: I tend to be a pretty hardcore introvert and being where it’s “people-y” is never high on my list. But I also know that for the sake of my mental health, I need to dig deep, find strength, and take chances in order to live, breathe, and soak up life. I want to meet new people and find that one companion who is willing to have adventures with me and be judgement free about it. I want to spread my wings and stretch my legs.
I Need to Sell Stuff: I spent 30 years of my life in the trenches of a traditional sale gig and left after finally cracking under a serious case of burnout. Many years later I have given in to the fact that my soul needs to sell (not to be confused with selling my soul). It’s engrained in me. It’s part of what makes me, me. Looking back on notes from past years, I’ve listed “Seller of Things” on my Master Action List numerous times. By “sell something” I don’t mean sell my worldly possessions. I mean, sell as in makes sales/commission on something. I proud to say I finally discovered the “what” of what I want to sell and it couldn’t feel more right. Check out my eBay and Etsy selling adventures here and here.
I Need Thin Out My Orchard: Like I alluded to above, I used to have an abundance of hypothetical plates spinning. One guru I follow likened it to tending an apple orchard. If you have many trees, it’s not such a big deal if one tree does poorly because the rest of the orchard will carry it through. But tending to a whole orchard is exhausting. Going forward, I’ve trimmed my orchard down to a few strong fruit-bearing trees (that make my heart sing) and let the rest go.
I Need to Honor My Core Genius: I took this fancy-smancy course years ago and walked away with the knowledge that we all have a Core Genius and a No End Path. Core Genius is the one thing that you love to do, and do so well, that you hardly feel like doing anything else. It’s effortless, and it helps you define purpose and identifying a career that fits well with both. Your No End Path is the thing that you can be working on now, and still working on ten years from now. It’s timeless. After much speculation, I have to come to the conclusion that MY answer to both is WRITING. It’s the thing I just “do” and seemingly do it well. And when I am done writing a project, I want more. This little nugget of knowledge will help me tremendously to find my way in 2024.
I Need to Reconnect with my Peeps, My Besties, and Gal Pals: Somewhere along the way…I lost touch with my peeps. Yes, we all busy and life moves fast, but I need my besties to help me push away from work, laugh uproariously, and to remind me to lighten up a bit. So get ready besties and fab friends who mean the world to me. There is a lunch date with in your future.
I Need to Whip My Outer Shell Into Shape:
My “outer shell” is looking a little rough. My outer shell doesn’t get much attention these days aside from a haircut and maybe a lip wax. My outer shell is a bit neglected and doesn’t like feeling that way. My outer shell longs for a energy, peace, and activities that make me stretch my legs and breathe fresh air. The Improved Care and Feeding of my Outer Shell will be at the top of my list in 2024 and I already have started by scheduling a massage, getting a haircut, and getting a mammogram. But there is more that needs to be done.
Run With The Motors and Leave The Anchors Behind
For those who have my Mom Bossing book will know that, on page 54-55, is a explanation of this unusual (but important) quote and where it originated from. In a nutshell, Run With The Motors and Leave the Anchors Behind means focusing on spending time with the positive people (The Motors) who cheer you on and leave the negative nellies (The Anchors) who bog you down behind.
“Your Motors are people lovingly build you up and propel you forward on your journey to success and abundance. The Anchors are the folks in your life who criticize, nitpick, and drag you down. They are the ones who are easily identified as naysayers.” ~ excerpt from Mom Bossing by Rebecca Flansburg
Always Be Thankful
I want to take a moment to thank and honor those who have always supported me, cheered me one, picked me up when I faltered, and encouraged me along the way. My Motors are like gold to me and should be thanked repeatedly and often. I am happy to report there was less “Anchors” in 2023 than in previous years. Progress.
And when the Anchors start getting mouthy, I will remember Wes Moore’s advice to, “Not let the people who don’t matter too much, matter too much.”

One More Thing
If your dream in the coming year is to bring a story to light, I can help! As a Non-Fiction Ghostwriter and Book Shepherd I know that many, many people have at least one story inside of them. Maybe it’s a memoir filled with the knowledge that came from a lifelong journey through tough times. Maybe it is a how-to book that reflects something you are passionate about, like homeschooling, rescuing animals, and helping small business owners run their shops better. Maybe you are a survivor and have many lessons to teach and share. The common thread all of these scenarios have is that, no matter what stage of life you are in, it’s never too late (or early) to share your story with the world in the form of a published book.
“Every writing project originates with an idea, and the concept starts with the storyteller.”
But what do you do if you have a story to tell, but don’t have the time, patience, writing chops, or organizational skills to bring your book to life? Or maybe, you struggle to articulate your story because of trauma, shyness, or being unsure of the writing process. To date, I have help four authors pluck their story from their brains and bring their published story to the reading public.
