59 Minutes and 59 Seconds….

By now, some of you may have noticed that I write a new post only about once every three days. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say…ohh…no-no-no! I may be a lot of things, but short on words is never one of them! The thing I am “short on” is TIME. You see, I have approx. ONE HOUR a day to do my beloved blogging and whatever Mommy-ish business I wish to conduct on the World Wide Web.

So at the ghastly hour of 5 a.m, still blinking sleepily, I sit down at my ‘puter, and begin my quest to “do some visiting before I write a new post.” All within my alotted 59 minutes and 59 seconds (unless I need to pack a lunch, hunt down my daughter’s shoes, or take a dump…then it’s more like 58 minutes…).

So I start by checking with the SITs girls because, they are a bloggy version of a coffee shop. You know you will know at least one person if you stop there. Plus, it’s just a nice way to start the day. THEN I remember that I haven’t been by to visit Kate over at thebigpieceofcake. Kate’s wicked funny and I really do like cake.

THEN that makes me think about what I would drink with some cake and I think of Stesha over at hotchocolatecaramelmocha. And while I’m there I see a comment from Courtney over at Theartis6.. The more I read of Courtney’s stuff the more I think her and I are related. Plus, she’s an amazing writer. So I read, I comment, and look at my watch…and nearly fall out of my chair. My 59 minutes and 59 seconds are all but gone. NO! It can’t be! I haven’t even visited themumfiles or pam, or yaya or housewifesavant yet! No fair! Re-do! REDO!!! And I haven’t typed one frickin syllable for my “daily post.”

Crud. Well..all I can do is try again tomorrow. Unless of course the Blog Gods smile upon me and my kids either:
A: Go to bed early
B. Find something to occupy themselves for 15+ minutes (like crayoning on my walls, or emptying an entire dresser, etc). either case I will be granted a few precious extra moments to do some writing. Worse case scenario, I just try again the next morning…and the next..and the next. One way or the tother, I will ‘git ‘er done.
p.s In case you were wondering, it took me three friggin days to write this post cuz…well… the whole link thing is almost more than my pea brain and slow ‘puter can handle. Plus it took me another fifteen minutes to locate some suitable clipart. And I still think the one I picked blows *sigh*
TTFN. See ya in 3 days!

Please share!

  1. The time thing is a big factor to blogging or the lack thereof. I used to post something twice a week. Now it’s dwindled to once a week. Maybe I’ll ramp it up again in the summer…or maybe not. 🙂

    Funny post.

  2. I don’t know what I find more amazing: You writing this hysterical post or being able to take a dump and still have 58 minutes left to write. (Frankly, that would have swallowed at least 15 of mine). See you in three.

  3. Lol…you are so devoted!! waking up at 5 to blog! I don’t know if I could do it! Just came by to say hi…come on over, if you ever get time that is!

  4. I’m there, too. There’s so much GREAT stuff out there to read. And if I read the comments them I’m taken off in another direction and then someone’s blog post makes me think of something else I wanted to google and then… I recently had to go through my blog list and delete all of the fluff. It’s hard being selective. It’s hard being selective. Darn, did I just type that sentence twice? Ugh, more wasted time. See…right there…that’s what happens to me. Ugh. Anyway, back to what I was saying before my fingers so rudely interrupted my process, I want to make sure I have some open space in my list so that I can follow a new blog that I absolutely, positively fall in love with and actually have time to READ it each week.

And, if you made it through this whole friggin’ comment then you know why I sometimes only post once a week!

  5. Thanks for the blog shout out! I love your blog also. I find myself telling my hubby that you and I could be related and how nice it is to run into a mom who has kids who enjoy coloring walls, or jumping on the sofa, or something else that moms really shouldn’t let their parents do.

  6. OMG! I could have written this post. Linking and adding pictures does take up an inordinate amount of time. To be honest, I wish I had some outside source that limited my ‘puter time. I find taht I fritter away most of my day doing all the things you mention. I’m seriously thinking of putting a time limit on myself. An hour seems reasonable, but obviously it’s not enough time. I wonder if two hours would be enough time so that I felt satisfied. Something to think about. (Thanks for linking to me. I appreciate it.)
